Transport in the early 1900s : People used automobiles which were invented in 1885 by Karl Benz a German. The only way to travel across the sea was by boat because air transport hadn’t been invented yet. Animal power (mainly horses and bullocks) was still being used in 1900 to move people and supplies. The rail transport was the most used. People used to travel on the rail when they couldn’t use their automobiles or when the journey was too long.

Important events

She helped them to think independently and possibly go to a university. Bella then became lady principal of Ballarat School of Mines University class. She must have taken a lot of responsible risks for the whole school. Then she resigned upon this job and went to marry a civil servant and poet Henry Halloran. This must of been very hard for her because she was leaving a job of 4 years of really hard work. Then the 9th of May 1893 her husband Henry died in Sydney leaving her with an infant son, Henry Marco. She did her best to manage her beliefs, passions, her family and also her job. Then she had a second marriage at Christ Church St Kilda Melbourne on the 1 October 1909 to George D’Arcie Lavender.
